Fairies and Trolls

Several weeks ago the fairies (the ones who have been visiting us for years) left a mysterious note for Kayla, Bailey, Ethan and Collin. It said that the kids must be together on the night of March 15th because something special would happen.
After weeks of anticipation and lots of meetings and phone calls between Kayla and Bailey, March 15th arrived. The kids spent the night at our house and they could barely fall asleep, wondering what would happen.
When we woke up in the morning we found that the faires and trolls had actually had a great battle in our house. Troll footsteps were coming from the fireplace and doorways and fairy dust was everywhere. The fairies left a letter describing the battle and said the cat (cats hate trolls) helped ward off the trolls and helped them win the battle. The fairies left special necklaces for the girls to wear and they left fairy dust and lego kits for the boys.
What a great and exciting morning we had!
The only problem is that a beautiful jewled box lay open on the ground in the backyard. Apparently the trolls stole the "jewel of fairy knowledge" during the fight. But the cat knocked the jewel out of the troll's hands and it is somewhere... out there... and that is to be continued when the "Great Jewel Hunt" happens this spring.

My cute toothless brownie

Kayla is now missing both front teeth and I just love how she looks. Too cute.
She lost the tooth a couple days before Brownie pictures which made it extra cute. :)

Kelby Love and the Scottsdale Art Festival

A year ago in March Kayla, Nana and I visited the Scottsdale Art Festival.
While there, we met an artist named Kelby Love. Kayla loved his artwork. He paints animals and the detail is incredible.
He was so very good to Kayla and gave her some original sketches and a print.
We emailed him after the festival to thank him and he asked us to come visit him next year. Well last week Kayla, Nana and I visited the Scottsdale Art Festival and we hoped to find Kelby. One artist even let Kayla help her paint.
And we DID find Kelby!! He remembered Kayla and once again gave her some of his work!
He asked us to come back next year... so this is to be continued....

Tooth Fairy

Kayla finally lost her front tooth! After her tooth hung there for a couple of weeks (and had been loose for almost a year)I suggested we have the dentist pull it. We were going to be there anyway for a dentist appt for Collin. She agreed, so they numbed her up and yanked it out! She was very brave! Boy does she look cute.
With all the fairies that come through this house visiting at night, it was no surprise that the tooth fairy came with a few other fairies that night.
Not only did Kayla get some money for her tooth but some fairies left her notes in the backyard where she and Bailey communicate with them. :)

Waiting for the dentist to come pull her tooth. She is numbed up... and nervous

So cute!

Chrish

I so love my dear friend, Christian. We have been friends for over 10 years and our friendship never waivers. In fact, these days we are closer than ever since my beautiful friend has been visiting AZ in hopes of finding a winter home.
Chrish always spoils the heck out of me and my family... she is too sweet.
Most recently Christian came to visit for a week after having been in Thailand.
She brought the kids t-shirts, pictures, stuffed animals and more, all from the Elephant Nature Park that her parents help run. You can imagine how overjoyed Kayla was.
While she was here the kids and I visited her at her hotel and took some paddle boats out. What a blast!!!
We miss her already and hope she comes back soon.

Aunt Pat

We had so much fun with Aunt Pat here. The kids enjoyed playing with her at Grandma's house and of course we all enjoyed a meal at Costa Vida.
But best of all, we got to have Aunt Pat here at our house for two nights!
She read to the kids, played with them, helped us garden and plant flowers, walk to Collin's preschool and watch Kayla's horseback riding lesson.
It was a wonderful two day visit!
