Mother's Day

I awoke to fresh coffee and doughnuts on Mother's Day. Tim snuck out in the early morning to accomplish this.
Then Tim gave me a book I've been wanting, "In Praise of Stay at Home Moms" written and autographed by Dr. Laura. I am a full blown Dr. Laura addict.
I love her no-nonsense attitude about how we should treat eachother and our families and her intelligent views about religion and different cultures. I've listened to her since I was about 20!! So I am so thrilled to have an autographed copy of her book.
Next the kids gave me the best Mother's Day gift yet, a pull-tab chart.
There are coupons good for massages, hair-brushing, Harry Potter movie night with Collin, Costa Vida night with Kayla, quiet time hour for Mom while Tim takes the kids out and many others. It has been so fun to pull a tab each day and the kids get so excited to see which one I'll choose.
I have an amazing family!!!

pictures from the weekend.

What a great weekend!
We hiked in Strawberry all day Saturday. We were not able to go all the way down to the stream as we had hoped because of some steep drop-offs, but the kids and dogs did great and we all had fun!
How nice it is to take the short drive to Payson, AZ and feel like we're in Colorado again!

Gotta love little boys!

On Sunday we had the kids' buddies, Ethan and Bailey over. I think they swam from about 11:00 to 4:00. It was so fun to hear "Marco Polo" and all the laughing and splashing all day.

Happy

I didn't really know what to name this post... but when the kids spend three hours in the backyard swimming, in the playhouse and catching bugs it just makes me... happy.

Kayla's tooth

Kayla has had a loose tooth for about a year now.
She might have set a record!
This is due in large part to her intense fear of pain of any kind.
For the past few months we've gotten a little more serious (dentist's orders) about encouraging her to wiggle that tooth and bite straight in to apples, etc...
FINALLY, her tooth was loose enough for Mom to tug it out last night!!!
Yay Kayla!

The person Kayla has trusted most to wiggle her tooth has been Collin.

It was time to get this puppy out!

I finally yanked it out with a "POP"! One thing that is so fun about Kayla is that life moments really mean a lot to her. She cried tears of happiness and tears of sadness about growing up.

Kayla has a special tooth fairy box given to her by Great Grandma Bernhardt.
It was bittersweet to finally use the box on Mother's Day and not be able to call Grandma to tell her about it.

Kayla couldn't bear to part with her first baby tooth, so she asked the tooth fairy if she could keep it. We found out that the tooth fairy has a website with a q and a section. Turns out it is OK to keep a tooth as long as it does not become a habit. :)
